Silverfast Ai Studio 8 Canon

We scanned 20 slides out of various sizes with 0.4-0.6″ focus with the Canon CanoScan 9000f Mark II. As our favorite printer, we chose the Epson Stylus Pro 880. In SilverFast, you can download the Canon Epson software and update it to the latest version used for Epson Stylus Pro 880. For better results, the Epson printer should be set to LayOut. Here is a link to the Epson website. Download the latest drivers and software by clicking the links. In Photoshop, we set the correct DPI level to 300 (can be any value) and printed it directly to a CanoScan SRP-E180.

As you can see in the images, the slides are much more crisp and bright. The values are strongly improved. The blacks are much better defined. However, also the overall colors are more vibrant and bold.

For some other scans, the results from SilverFast Ai Studio were even better that the ones from Canons ScanGear. This was especially the case for uniform shades of gray or shades of white, where SilverFast creates a more homogenous and colorful picture. Also the black in the lighter areas of the picture is more purple or bluish in ScanGear compared to the results from SilverFast Ai Studio.
